If you have a staggered exhaust system and there’s a chrome plate that decorates the belt wheel and there’s chrome on the rear exhaust pipe which is chrome and the aluminum alloy wheel, you may get exhaust residue on there from the exhaust pipes. Don’t bother looking to get a special Harley bike cleaner. To disolve stuck on exhaust that blackens bike parts, go to your nearest auto parts store and buy a can of foaming degreaser. Spray it on your bike and let it work its magic, then rinse of with a strong stream of water.
Auto Zone has a “Etched wheel cleaner that works awesome too. just be sure to wash the residue off really well and a little polish will help to, it wont stick as much for the next time you clean it. One product is called neva-dull, and another called mothers. It’s a long strip of cotton soaked in some chemical. You just tear a lil piece off and rub it on there. It will turn completely black. Then you take a clean dry rag and wipe the black right off to reveal that new shine.
Some people swear by Simple Green and a brush for the tire, Simple green and a soft cloth for the chrome. Undiluted dish washing liquid works great for the tough stuff. Windex for quick clean up. Make sure the bike is cool and remember to get everything rinsed off well especially the back tire. A little wax now helps get the junk off the next time.
